I Passed My Glucose Test-Praise Jesus!

Now, they make all pregnant women take a gestational diabetes test because there are no signs of gestational diabetes and doctor really do not know what causes it. They believe it has something to do with the placenta not processing sugars correctly, and many women who are not overweight have it.

With Jackson, I failed the first screening bad, I believe it was a 160 something. But I somehow managed to pass the three hour test at the hospital.

With Abigail, I failed the first screening by 1 POINT, 136. 135 and above is failing. So again, I had to go the hospital and take the three hour test, but passed (believe me, I tried to get out of the three hour test at the hospital).

So with Annabeth, needless to say I was a little concerned. I felt really sick to my stomach the entire way there after drinking that yucky drink. I called my doctors office yesterday and they said I passed and got a 90 which the doctor was very pleased with. Wow! I prayed and all the glory goes to God.

Thank you all for your continued prayers in this pregnancy. I am 26 weeks now, and this Sunday will be in my third trimester. The Lord has taught me so much in the last three month by teaching Redemption class, and going to Beth Moore study on the book of Revelation. I am daily asking him how to worship Him in everything I do, and how to give him my entire heart, every minute of the day. "God's presence is everything." I am constantly praying He reveals himself to me each day and that my eyes are open.

So, my plan with Abigail was on or after her third birthday to get rid of her pacifier that she is VERY attached to.

Well her birthday is December 5th, and SO much was going on, so we decided to push it to January 1st.

I have to admit with all the nesting that is going on with me, getting rid of her paci was not a high priority.

Tuesday, January 3rd I took both Abigail and Jackson for their yearly well check ups and the doctor talked to Abigail a long time about getting rid of her paci and talked about a fairy coming and getting it.

Thursday, January 5th, she tells Ms. Megan that she was done with her paci. Since she said this, I thought it would be a good day to do it. I do not tell her some fairy that does not exist comes and gets it. Instead, I

1). Told her that the doctor says we cannot give it to her anymore, and that it is bad for her teeth. TRUTH

2). Then, I made her cut her three pacifiers. This way, she will not blame mommy for destroying it. I actually gave her scissors and she cut them, and put them in the trash can.

3). Lastly, we do lots of praising, telling her that she is a big girl. Also, today we went to Target and got a Polly Pocket little house for a treat for her. We are so proud of her!

To be honest, she has been so fussy recently, we have not seen a huge difference in her. But, please continue to keep us in your prayers. She did tell Charlie after she cut it that we should just go to Target to get another one and that is when he told her that the doctor told us we cannot give it to her anymore. Also, pray for me Monday, I have my gestational diabetes test which I failed both times with Jackson and Abigail. I only failed the test with Abigail by ONE point, which was very frustrating having to go to the hospital to take the three hour test. I am 25 week and will be 26 weeks Sunday. I think week 27 I will be in my third trimester! Last visit I did measure one week ahead of what I was. Easter could become my new due date, April 8th, AH!

were bought today at the Sock Basket in Spartanburg. She is three years old now, so we decided to start her with dance with her Preschool teacher starting Tuesday! She also needed some tap shoes. Abigail and I were so excited (and I was so glad my parents were there because there are a lot of choices, and I do not know as much as they do about ballet shoes)!

A GIRL!

Annabeth Joyce Wallace

Family names (Anna is Charlie's mom's name), and we have always loved the name Annabeth. Joyce is after my mom's mom and is a family name on Charlie's side of the family as well.

Annabeth means, "favor or grace, and He (God) has favored me." I love reading about Anna in the New Testament who was a prophetesses who devoted her life to God.

We were not as set on a boy name, as a girl name. Abigail really wanted a girl baby so I am joyful for her, not to mention I can find all my girl clothing a lot better than my boys clothing right now.

It is awesome that I can now feel her move all the time. The doctor said I am measuring right on time and the baby looked perfectly healthy . . . Praise God! I am overwhelmed by God's gifts he has given us, and by HIS plan for our lives. This week I am 21 weeks pregnant. Time is going a lot faster with baby number three, although Abigail asks everyday if she can come out tomorrow. Love it!

Pregnancy Update: 16 Weeks

I had my 16 week visit and it went well. They found the baby's heart beat very quickly which was a relief because at the 12 week visit it took forever. His or her heart rate was 154 beats a minute. I was a little nervous because I felt fluttering and then have not for the last weeks.
The doctor said not supposed to feel the baby moving till more like 20 weeks.
I also have been sick last week and on z pack diagnosed with bronchitis on Monday.
I have the big ultrasound at week 19 on November 22nd. We will also find out what we are having this morning as well.
If I had to guess what we were are having I would guess a girl. I have acne on my face like with Abigail and did not have this with Jackson. However, I am not as anxious to find out what we are having, which is nice. Jackson heart rate was in the 150's at first and then 140'st the rest of the pregnancy as I can remember. Abigail's was 170's and then 160's so the 150 heart rate is not giving me any sign (I think generally boys are lower and girls heart rates are higher).
My heart rate and blood pressure are low while I am pregnant, which is why it takes me a while to get anything done, but makes me a very laid back person which is awesome.
Keep praying for this baby to be healthy! We elected not to have down syndrome blood test done because of friends who have had false positive and it has not been accurate at all. Also, whatever God's plan is for our life we chose to trust Him when that time comes.

I am so proud of Abigail. The second week of her starting school, I put underwear on her and she did great. I still use diapers for her to sleep in but all during the day she has underwear on. It has been a little exhausting stopping places and taking her potty, but so worth not seeing her have sagging diapers (they were even going through her clothes and getting her clothes wet). This summer when I put underwear on her she would have accidents all the time because she does not mind being dirty, and just wasn't ready for it, so I was really surprised when we tried again and it worked. Praise God!

Jackson's 5th Birthday Party Pictures!

Finally! Only a month plus late...haha!

All summer I tried to plan Jackson's 5th birthday party. Last year, we just had a small family party and so for his 5 year old party I wanted to do a big party (especially since he has like 17 kids in his Pre K class). So, I talked with friends, got to borrow a bouncy castle, and since this summer he went crazy over Cars 2, the theme of the party was easy. I also had friends bring their power wheels and we did power wheel rides around the church, and little roller coaster ride inside the church (again borrowed from a friend). I also made pigs and blanket and meaty cheese dip (just finger food). It went great! I think we had 40 people come. Jackson will always remember it!

Now of course Abigail is begging for a princess party. Any ideas? I really do not want to do a big party since she only has few kids in her class.

I am so proud of Jackson this year. He is doing great in school and writes his name every time he signs in. He is doing so great in soccer as well, really turning the ball around and scoring. But most of all, I am proud of how much he knows about the Bible and how he already seems to be preaching. Last week, I caught him reading his Bible on his own and preaching. When he had strep throat at the beginning of the school year, he told a man in the doctors office that Jesus died for his sins and really started witnessing to him. I know God has a very special plan for Jackson, and I can't wait to see God's glory keep shinning through my precious little boy.

Stay tuned for another post tomorrow! I turned 15 weeks yesterday and we think as of now we find out what we are having the week of Thanksgiving, but I will know definitely next week on Tuesday when I go for my 16 week visit. Abigail cannot wait for this baby to come!

8 Week Ultrasound Pictures- I am 11 Weeks Now!

Wow! This pregnancy has gone by fast so far. Probably in part because I am trying not to talk or think about it too much because in the past I was pregnant for the full 40 weeks. (so it is 10 months). I do have “coma naps,” so I’m pretty tired, am constantly sneezing, and have stomach issues, but it is really not that bad! Yesterday, I felt like I had lots of energy for the first time in a long time. I did not think I was that tired, until I started to have energy and then realized how tired I have been. I know in the second trimester (I think starts at 12 weeks?), I will have lots more energy. I also have a good amount of acne like I did with Abigail, not Jackson. Is there anything I can put on my face to help with this that y’all know of?
I go back to the doctor at the end of next week and will be 12 weeks this Sunday. I think thats what makes it so I will find out what I am having towards the end of November. Keep this baby in your prayers...that he or she is healthy and that I can stay healthy (no high glucose test this time.)! Thank you so much!
Even listening to Revelation today on my iPod, John was talking about how God chooses to bless through many offspring and we are so blessed with eternal blessings. I am doing Revelation with Beth Moore this semester and loving every minute of it. I am so overwhelmed by His love and provision recently.

Grandparents Day at Preschool

At the beginning of September, we they had Grandparents Day at Preschool where Grandparents came to lunch (Preschool is so awesome). Wow, September has been busy. I am so thankful for my babies grandparents. Today, my parents met me half way (Gaffney), and took Jackson to get his hair cut and to see the Lion King at the movie theatre. We are so blessed!

While in seminary, we had the privilege of getting to know a wonderful couple Katie and Ross. After we graduated seminary, I kept up with them through her blog, and every since Jackson could talk, we have been daily praying for their daughter Leah.

Leah got a new heart this week. God is so amazing and faithful. I am completely emotional being pregnant and every morning, I check her blog first thing. Please pray that her lungs do well with the new heart, and that she is in as little pain as possible. Also, pray for strength for Katie as she is pregnant with her third little one right now. Thank you so much!

Abigail's First Day at Resurrection!

Monday was Abigail's first time going to Resurrection Lutheran School (Mother's Morning Out). I am so thankful that GOD provided for her to be able to go two mornings a week. This means mommy will have two mornings off...wow.

One of Abigail's favorite phrases is "I can't want to." She did not say it on Monday, she was so excited to go to school, and of course picked out her outfit. I love her SO MUCH! God has richly blessed us with eternal blessings!

Some Exciting News from the Wallace Family!

Baby #3 is on the way! We are so thankful and excited! Tentative due date is April 15th. God has blessed us richly with everything in Him!

We are taking the command to "be fruitful and mulitply" very seriously. Haha!

Also, around the same time that I got pregnant (and did not know it), God sent us renters to rent our house out in Columbia for the next two years, who also might be interested in buying it after their rental agreement expires. I had very special friends (Ashley and Betsy) praying and helping us find our renters.

I am currently 7 weeks (will be 8 weeks this Sunday). I go in for my ultrasound September 8th at 10 am and they will be able to see if there is one baby or two babies already then.

Been doing pretty good so far. Had one sneezing attack one day, plenty of acne (like with Abigail), and big craving of diced tomatoes. I am VERY laid back pregnant which Charlie and everyone else in my life is enjoying. I do not think anything is a waste of time and will actually read magazines pregnant. I'm taking a nap every other day and enjoying life. I am really thinking about staying off caffeine for a while because I do not get stressed out about hardly anything and think no caffeine has something to do with it.

Here is my post from announcing I pregnant with Abigail. This is when I am so thankful I have taken the time to blog!

Reading through Revelation right now with the Bible Experience and these verse keeps coming to my mind:

So thankful, like Jackson says, that God put a baby in my belly. To Him be the glory!

Jackson's First Day of 4K Preschool

VBS was so awesome this year. We had so many visitors and one night we had like 106 kids (over 100 kids) and possibly 13 salvations. I pretty sure it is the most DBC has ever had. Also, we are up 30 percent from last year since going to two services. Jesus is doing so amazing things at David Baptist Church!

Top Three Things I Enjoy About Running

Strengthens my relationship with Jesus. I listen to the Bible through the Bible Experience the first 15 to 25 minutes of running. I have been able to listen to Genesis, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, Psalms (5 hours listening), Matthew, Acts, 1 Kings and now I am onto 2 Kings. I like to do an Old Testament book then a New Testament book. If you are A.D.D at all now that you have kids I would strongly enjoy listening to the Bible daily.
Strengthens me living to worship. I am carrying around Charlie's iPod touch, and I want all great worship songs on my iPod (even if that mean going to the back room at 11 pm with spiders and Megan (my HELPER and one of my best friends this summer) to get them). Shane and Shane "Pages" cd is awesome and one of my new favorites is How He Loves us (David Crowder Band). I could be the crazy person you see at the Y praising Jesus while running and raising her hands...
There is a goal. Many times when I have exercised in the past, I have felt like it is a huge waste of time. When running 3.1 miles, you are always trying to get a better time, and to do better. I think one time I ran it in 34 minutes but it was almost 35 minutes and no hills. Also, I am multi tasking when I run and listen to my Bible as well. Many times, I will come home and re-read passages that blew my mind or journal about it.

How I Run:

I run without stopping for 1 mile on the treadmill then I take anywhere from a 30 second to 1 minute break and walk at 3.9. I usually do not have trouble running one mile straight. We joined the Kings Mountain YMCA just for the summer since they have an outdoor pool and childcare and have really made great friendships there.
If I am really struggling, I drink a sip of water every 5 minutes while still running. I also will really turn up my favorite song if I am really struggling.
Sometimes I do stop again after I have hit 1.5 miles, but do everything in my power not to stop until whatever praise song I am listening to is over.
Mile 2 to 3 is usually the hardest, this is when I am praising Jesus big time. I usually think thoughts like no one things you can do this...Holy Spirit will enable you! I use to look at the pain on runners faces and say I will never do that. Well, never say never. Every time I say I will never do something God has me doing it within a year. Jesus is so awesome.

First Timed Running 5k!

God was smiling on us yesterday morning. It was 60 something degrees in July and I actually had cold chills before we started. We had a chip tied on our shoelaces to record our time.

Right when it started, I dropped my timer and tried to get it, but could not so probably lost 30 seconds or so trying to get it. Also, the ipod touch was pretty heavy in my pocket. The first mile uphill was pretty rough, my legs felt like they weighed 100 pounds each (definitely did not prepare for hills). I ran pretty slow, but only stopped running twice and for only 10 or 20 seconds each.

I clocked in at 36 minutes and Rachel 33 minutes. God gets all the glory! I have come a long way from being sore after walking 1 mile, and 3.1 miles taking me 45 minutes.

Pray for my babies health. The last 24 hours have been a roller-coaster ride. One of my best friend's baby (who I kept at my house last week), was hospitalized last night and had emergency surgery for an infection in his knee. Then, yesterday Jackson ran a fever in the afternoon, and this morning I woke up to him in our bed sleeping then crying non-stop saying his throat and legs hurt. So, off we went to our doctors at 10 am and went ahead and took Abigail in too because she did not look too good, and they both tested positive for strep throat. Ever since we have been in full time ministry major bad events have happened for us on the week of VBS. The first VBS in full time ministry we had a fire in Jackson's room, then every year after it, one of us has been sick. Tonight, is the first night of our VBS.

VBS is my favorite week of the summer, and one of my kids favorite weeks too (I mean who could not love all the songs!). I am thankful that they are on strong antibiotics now, and should be ok to make it to day 2 of VBS tomorrow night. At least they cannot get an infection during the week since they are on antibiotics. I shared some money saving ideas and how to coupon at our Shelby Moms Club meeting this week (we have a meeting once a month), and one of our members did even more research for us and above is part of her email. This is a fantastic deal on the paper!

Jackson has come so far this summer with his fear of swimming. Last summer, he was not afraid at all, until he went to group swim lessons and they made him jump off the deep in and did not tell him they would not catch him till he was under water. Jackson likes to be in control and that did not go over too well with a 3 year old! Puddle jumper floats have been such a blessing this summer and now Abigail swims and floats all by herself while we are swimming too with her puddle jumper float.

Princess Dance Camp=Fantastic

I love that Abigail wants to be a princess ALL the time. We are all God's little princesses.

But, Abigail wanting to go to a dance class VERY badly, all started after watching "Dora" Ballet. Everyday, she asked, "Mommy, can I go to my dance class today?" So, when some of my friends told me about Princess Dance Class with a woman who teaches at RLS (La Petitte Dance Studio), I though it might be a possibility for her even though she is only 2 and half. Then, when one of her friends at church I heard was going, I knew she would do great. Yesterday, she did not even want me to walk her to the car. She said, "You can stay here; me and daddy are going to my Dance class." Wow, Abigail and Jackson are so different, and I love how girly-girl Abigail is! She goes everyday this week form 9-12:30. She is loving being a big girl!

Believe it or not, my kids get bored easily, and when they do I say, "Who made you?" Abigail usually sings the "God made me Song" (in my Bible book is says that God made me). We practice these especially at bath time.

Wow! I do like the Baby Wise Books and this Preschool Wise book because I like to have a plan, but in reality with kids nothing goes as planned.

A few weeks ago, I decided that I want us to only have the T.V. on twice a day. No real reason, just sick of the T.V always being on. Then, I remembered I had not read Preschool Wise, and I have and LOVE Preschool age kids. I am also a little nervous about what we are going to do all summer not being in Preschool.

I am going to work on my schedule which will look different than the above schedule. Jackson has done well with not a lot of T. V except for first thing in the morning when he wants to eat breakfast and watch T.V. I have replaced it with his Tagger book and a new tagger book to work through.

Additionally, I have just been making them play in the den for 15 minutes and setting a timer (or Jackson’s room, etc). I try to play cars and blocks with them on Mondays, bubbles Tuesdays, puzzles Wednesdays, Animals on Thursdays, and art and crafts on Fridays.

Free playtime- is putting him either outside or in his room, but allowing him to decide what he plays with.

Structured playtime-Place is determined by mom. It might be playing with puzzles at the kitchen table, coloring, playing with the kitchen play center, etc.

Structured playtime with siblings-Two siblings can be coloring at the kitchen table, playing in the backyard together, or sharing reading time.

Your afternoon routine might look like this:

Wow, May has been busy and so much fun! Birthday parties, strawberry picking, LOTS of being outside, swimming in the neighbor's pool, going to "Gigi and Grand's" pool for the first time. My kids loved every minute of it, and I did too. I LOVE being outside...just really puts you in a pleasant mode. Also, listening to the Bible using the Bible Experience through itunes has made a huge difference in my day. I have listened to 1 and 2 Samuel, Psalms, and now I am on Matthew. Psalms was over five hours of listening and each book of the Bible is $3.99 on itunes through the Bible Experience.

I was a little nervous about what I was going to do with the kids this summer, but things are falling into place. Now, June looks pretty full. I am VERY tired of TV constantly on at my house. I am now limiting "TV Time" to just two hours a day (trying to get a schedule where we watch TV for 30 minutes to an hour in the am and 30 minutes to an hour in the afternoon). I am reading Preschool Wise and it is helping a lot with getting a schedule down for this summer. Hopefully, I will post weekly on what I have learned from Becoming Preschool Wise (same author as Baby Wise). Some of their stuff is too strict; probably not enough grace. But, I love to plan, and really enjoy planning fun things for my kids to do!

So, today I went to CVS and got a coupon for a free bag tag. You do not have to use a reusable shopping bag, you just have to scan your bag tag (but you can only scan it one time a day).

Then, I had 1 coupon for a Playtex cup from the newspaper, and another CVS store baby coupon that they mailed me me, so I got Abigail a Princess Playtex cup for $1. Today was a Big Day for Me---Lost 10% of My Body Weight!

First let's rewind to last November, yes you read correctly, last November.

Get on the scales and realize I am 16 pounds overweight. Is it because I am not working out anymore? Is it because Charlie had his gallbladder out last summer? Well, those could be influences on me, but I am the determinate. No one put a gun to my head and made me overeat....

Back to last November. I have a conversation with my friend and she says she has always wanted to do Weight Watchers. I thought to myself, "I was just about to quit because of Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, I have NEVER attended meeting during those holidays." But, I had someone to go with me. So we went to the Shelby location with the BEST leader I have ever had. We did not lose weight during the holidays, but we did not gain any either. We were able to lose weight in January and February. And then, last month was the WALK IT challenge. I could barely walk a mile when I fist started and now yesterday I ran 30 minutes and walked 5 minutes for a total of 2.5 Miles!

So back to today. My friend cannot go to the weigh in this morning meaning I am going to have to take the kids with me (her oldest daughter would babysit most Wednesday mornings...how wonderful is that!). Last time I took the kids with me to a meeting, it was a complete disaster. So, we get there late. I am tense. I could not talk to anyone on the phone or listen to music on the ride there kind of tense.

Lord, I have come so far, let it be today, let me reach this goal that has been harder than any other time I have ever had losing weight. Oh goodness, I am getting teary eyed. Ok, stay calm just step on the scales.

It is a wonderful miracle that the kids are sitting on chairs near the door being great. I tell the lady, I think I might have reached my 10 percent today.

She says "let me see........ long pause.........yes you have lost 2 pounds this week for a total of 16 pounds, that means you have reached your 10 percent today. You did it!"

Oh my goodness, do not cry. So then she kindof interrupts a packed room of ladies, and Marti says Emily I am so proud of you. I could barely talk....having a very emotional day. I said I ran 2.5 miles last night and I think that is what finally got me to loose the 4 pounds I have been trying to loose for the last 2 months. Wow, what a great day!

Some keys:

I would not recommend trying to go to WeightWatchers meetings alone.
I have really enjoyed listening to the Bible on iTunes through "The Bible Experience." Last week I listened to 1 Samuel, while I ran, and this week I have been listening to 2 Samuel. I LOVE growing in His word and exercising. I do not think I could just run a treadmill with nothing to do.

Pray:

I run (walk some for sure) my first 5k this Saturday at 6pm. Pray that I can do it even if it is way hot!
I am going to try to mainly run 3 miles tomorrow night on the treadmill at Shapes by Jodi. Pray that I can do it. I can do fine on a treadmill, but do have trouble running outside.
Today I listened to 2 Samuel 22 and it really spoke to me. Overeating, is something I have battled with since I was 2 years old saying "more" banana pudding. "The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my DELIVERER, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my SAVIOR." Praise God!
I still have 6 more pounds to lose, before I get to my personal goal weight, and then I have to maintain that weight for six weeks before I am a lifetime member (something I have always wanted to do). But, I am now within my weight range now, and I can decide whatever weight I want to be at...Praise God!
Also, pray that the Lord will deliver us from this house in Columbia. Our house is the only house for sale in our neighborhood that is ready for someone to move into now. Someone might be interested in the house, but has not called my Realtor yet. We only have two more months for it to sale before we try to rent it out. I am having faith in Him!

Charlie just gave me his ipod touch...he is awesome. So some things I have been enjoying on my new ipod:

The Bible Experience on itunes. I downloaded just 1 Samuel because that is where I am in reading the Bible through in a year and i have listened to it all in 2 days! I really enjoyed all the different voices...it was very powerful! I listened to it while I ran, did chores, etc.
Second recommendation is Shane and Shane's "Everything is Different" cd. My favorite song on the cd is "For the Good," and Charlie's is "My Portion. A review online states,"The album's sweet yet pulsating musical version of "The Lord's Prayer" is taken word for word from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Shane Everett lends his rare songwriting talent on "Rain Down," a song that reflects Psalm 27. The album's first radio single, a creative re-imaging of the beloved hymn, "My Hope Is Built," is based on Jesus' parable of the wise man who built his house on solid rock, found in Matthew, chapter seven."
I also bought recently Casting Crown's, "Glorious Day." We sang it in church the other week and it a very moving praise song.

Vacation Pictures- Part 1 The Beach!

The water gun we got at the Piggly Wiggly was a big hit!

This is the third year in a row we have taken our vacation trip to Charleston for my dad's birthday (May 4th), and been able to stay at my grandmother's house (still cannot believe she is gone).

The kids loved playing in the ocean this year, even though the water was a little chilly! We might have to plan another trip to the beach this year because the kids did so well and enjoyed it so much. Every year we take our big beach trip and one vacation of the year on the week of my dad's birthday in May (we stay at my dad's mom's house in Charleston). We had a great trip this year! Hopefully, I will get all my pictures uploaded soon (I am started to just upload pictures here on my blog, and not on facebook).

"It's a Cinderalla Story---She Met her Prince"

I have been very excited about the wedding of the century for many reasons:

I feel like I have grown up with William. He is around my age, and met his princess early in college, just like I when I met Charlie. Charlie and I have been together for ten years just like William and Kate, so I can relate somewhat.
My favorite TV show is "Say Yes to the Dress." No, I am not into fashion and do not buy many clothes or shoes, but for some reason I love to see every wedding dress out there. I like to know what type it is, cost, etc.
Every little girl imagines being the ultimate princess one day, and to actually see it happen is really remarkable and so beautiful.
So last week, in my excitement about the wedding, I threw together a "Prince/Princess" playdate at my house. It was so awesome!
The Bible speaks a lot about His church being the bride of Christ. Every girl pictures herself walking to their Father, their Savior and their Prince perfectly dressed in white. When Kate walked up there and William told her she looked beautiful, and I could read his lips it was one of the best TV moments ever! He is not some snooty prince who will not say what is on his mind. Later, I read her lips and she told William she was so happy. Her dress was beautiful. I love that she can look so modern and fashionable without showing too much skin. Everything about the wedding was so beautiful!
Lastly, this wedding today gives me so much to look forward to one day being in a perfect heaven with perfect music, etc, and being complete in Jesus. Yes, it was a glorious joyful wedding and I am so glad I got to share it with some people I love up here in Kings Mountain.

Easter 2011 Pictures

This Easter was so special with our kids. Sunday morning we woke up and sang "Alive, Alive, Jesus is Alive" and we really celebrated together Jesus being alive and now he is up in the sky watching us, which is what I tell my kids. Easter is easier for us than Christmas, probably because we do not do Easter baskets Sunday morning. I know, gasp . . . .The main reason why we never started doing the "Easter Bunny" is because Jackson does not like candy. Christmas, on the other hand, is a time when Jackson gets very confused about why he gets presents from a guy named Santa Claus and I can see him struggling with what does Santa exactly have to do with Jesus??? Lastly, Easter was so special because David Baptist Church is doing a fantastic job being a church that is all about Jesus and reaching others for Jesus. God gets all the glory!

We were so excited that around 130 people came out for our Easter Egg Hunt. The Preschool Committee did such a great job! God gets all the glory! It was a great outreach event and we are so glad we decided to move it to Sunday when we saw there was going to be 90 percent chance of rain on Saturday. Also, Easter Sunday we had 250 in worship which was a record. It is an excited time at David Baptist Church, and we are so thankful.

Tuesday's Tip: Bulletin Monday at Chick Fil A in the Shelby Mall

I saw the last time I was at the Shelby mall, that Monday is bulletin Mondays. If you bring in your bulletin from Sunday you get a free Chick Fil A sandwich or 8 count nugget!

So, last night after tee ball practice we went to the Shelby mall with our bulletin, and saw the Easter Bunny. Abigail is terrified of anything dressed up in a big fluffy costume (Chick Fil A cow, Cocky, etc), so I was SO proud of her for sitting on the ledge with her sweet daddy right behind her. The picture people cropped Charlie out of our printed pictures, and they were so nice and affordable.

Our first tee ball game of this year was indoors due to all the rain Saturday. Jackson was the first batter up in the entire game! He did well, and it did take the kids some time to get adjusted to the foam ball. The coach also let him play the pitcher spot for one inning, and he did so well! He was so cute throwing it in, and one time he checked third base and then decided to throw to first.

Update on the WeightWatchers Walk-!T / Run IT Challenge

This last week has been busy! I spent most of my free time planning for our Easter Egg Hunt that was supposed to be Saturday, but is now Sunday at 5 pm. We are excited that it is now Sunday, and pray that it will be a great outreach event!

I also spent the rest of my free time, running / walking. Tuesday, I joined Shapes by Jodi. and ran / walked Monday and Tuesday. I really liked Shapes by Jodi (it is open 24/7 with your card), and it is affordable because they do not have childcare (I can sneak off before dinner and run), and I can cancel membership anytime. Tuesday night, I had to go to a Preschool Committee meeting so I did not have a lot of time and somehow ran seven straight minutes! Wednesday morning, my friend and I ran 2 minutes / walked 3 minutes and it was not too bad. BUT, Friday morning we ran 3 minutes, walked 2 minutes for 3 times, and I thought I was going to die. I could not really breath at all.

The first week of running/walking was really hard on my shins. I have major feet issues. I have very flat feet and when I walk my feet go in (actually had braces on my feet when I was little). So, unfortunately, I have to spend a good bit of money on my tennis shoes and insoles. I love Brooks tennis shoes and got some last summer. But, I have not worked out since last August, so I am not ready to get new shoes just yet, but will probably be ordering some new Superfeet Insoles. They are incredible, and I would highly recommend them if you have feet problems at all. If you find out how I can order them cheaper than retail price (I get the hot pink color), please let me know soon!

WeightWatchers Walk-!T Challenge: We Signed up for a 5K

Me and my friend went to WeightWatchers on Wednesday, and I was like, "oh great they are talking about a 5k the entire time...I am not doing that..."

Well, my leader Marti, the best leader I have ever had, gave us a pamphlet that has a $5 WeightWatchers PointsPlus Pedometer (so it makes it $18), and a 30% off coupon for a pair of Sketchers shoes. Also, it has step-by-step on how you train in 6 weeks to walk or run a 5K (y'all know I love a plan). She went on to explain that a 5K is only 3.1 miles, and that she was going to work it out so we will meet at a track May 21st Sat night at 6pm to run it, and we do not have to pay anything to run it (we get a 5k charm if we finish it).

Walking Guide Week 1:

Day 1: 10 min
Day 2: 10 min
Day 3: rest
Day 4: 12 min
Day 5: 12 min
Day 6: rest
Day 7: 15 min

Running Guide Week 1:

Day 1: 1 min Run, 1 min Walk, Repeat 10 x for total time of 30 min
Day 2: Rest
Day 3: same as Day 1
Day 4: Rest
Day 5: 2 min Run, 2 min Walk, Repeat 4 x for total time of 30 min

Me and my friend have now both lost 13 pounds (one week I had lost a total of 14 pounds, but this week I am back up a pound) with Weight Watchers since November of last year. I really think training for these 6 weeks will really help us lose the last 10 pounds we need to lose.

Also, this Saturday will be the last day to join up for Weight Watchers for $19.99 for the first month. When there is not a joining fee, I just pay weekly. But, when there is a joining fee you have to pay $13 a week and have to pay for the week you missed (you get 3 free misses every 6 months I think). Having a friend to go through this with me has made all the difference it the world!

I will hopefully weekly update you on how the training is going. As of now, I think my goal is to run maybe 2 miles of it and walk 1 mile. I will probably train for the running track, so it will be a challenge, but running 3.1 miles when I have not worked out since last summer is probably not a realistic goal. If you have any advice on training, I would love to hear it! Tomorrow we are going to a track with my WeightWatchers Pedometer.

Continue to pray for our house to sell - pretty sure no one ended up coming to the open house. There are around fifty houses in our new neighborhood in Columbia, and only three left for sell (ours being one of them), so we have faith that our house will sell, and He will get all the glory!

We are having an open house this Sunday, so if you could pray for the perfect buyer to come, throughout the day tomorrow...that would be fantastic! Our Realtor also put an ad in the paper about this open house.

Here is the update on our house:

We lowered the price again in the middle of March (basically in the Columbia market you are having to price a house for sale less than you bought it for...sad).

I have had one contact through facebook who might be interested in renting it in October. We will have to rent it out in the Fall if no one buys it (our house will have gone through two Springs, and two Summers without selling). We are having faith that it WILL sell before then!

About every week, one of my babies asks to go to Monkey Joe's. We have not been since cousin Jake's birthday in December, and now we have been twice in two weeks. The above pictures were two Monday's ago in Spartanburg. Charlie had a meeting every night last week and I needed a getaway, so we went to Spartanburg for the day two Monday's ago (my parents took us to Monkey Joe's which was fantastic).

Today we went to Monkey Joe's in Gastonia, and they have half price day on Wednesday and I met a couple friends out there. I am also friends with MJ's on facebook where they let me know when they are having events with chances to win a free birthday party there. We had another great time there, and I will hopefully upload pictures soon.

I have a feeling we will be going to Monkey Joe's a good bit during this summer. I am a little nervous about this summer because it will be the first time I have not had a gym membership since I had Jackson, and I really do not want to get one for the summer. Fun Friday: We had a Great Time at Shelby Park!

Today we went to the Shelby Park for free Carousel rides with the Moms Club of Shelby. It was a beautiful day and we had a fanastic time.

My heart was also very heavy as I enjoyed the day with my babies. The Cleveland Park Train Crash has constantly been on my mind.

How is the family that lost their son coping with this tragedy? How is the wife dealing with all of this being eight months pregnant? I am sure her emotions are all over the place.

Last night, I was overcome with emotion hearing the pastor who lost his son speak on the Channel 7 news station (in Spartanburg). This family is being so strong, and I know the supernatural strength that they have is coming through the Holy Spirit's awesome power working in them.

Pastor Dwight (the family's dad) said that losing a son was the most terrible pain you could ever experience, but that the Lord will help you get through it and sends other people to help you as well.

He said that he wants answers but that he does not blame anyone. He was very proud to be the parent of Benjie, the boy that died. Both parents said they had a wonderful six years with him. They said they were confident that knew Benjie knew the Lord.

Wow. So many times we get so caught up in things, especially material matters, and in the end we can't take them with us. We really need to enjoy the day that Jesus has given us, and enjoy the precious miracles that God has richly blessed us with!

This song is not really new, but it is new to me! I heard it at eteens when we went to hear Robyn (eteens is fantastic!). I downloaded off itunes and have been listening to it on my ipod a lot! I would really encourage everyone to spend time during you day worshiping Jesus. It has been a crazy time in our lives with our house not selling, voting on going to two services, and trying to do our complicated taxes this year. So much of our battle is spiritual, and it begins with our thought life. I also have the Bible on cd (dramatized version) that I purchased a long time ago, and I am listening to the Bible throughout the day as well.

My kids really like the new "Jake and the Never Land Pirates" show on the Disney Channel. One day I called the kids in to come inside from playing outside, and I said, "You can watch Jake!" Abigail got so excited and said "my cousin Jake is here." She was all confused and heart broken that her cousin Jake was not here for a visit. So, we quickly planned a day trip to Columbia. It was good because we got some free Dream Dinners, and our lawnmower from the house. It was so great to see them and to get to go to the zoo!

Tuesday's Tip: Jackson's First Trip to the Dentist

We had many different people tell us different things about when to take our babies to the dentist. Some people said don't take them when they are two, because they will not do a cleaning, and all their teeth have not come in yet.

So we were planning on taking Jackson to the dentist when he was three for his first cleaning and check up and then when he was three we moved. Then soon after we moved, Charlie had his gallbladder out, and then well...his first visit was last week. Abigail's first visit will definitely be right after she turns three years old, but I am only taking them once a year until their permanent teeth come in as of now.

Some things I learned at the dentist:

We need to brush their gums at least once a day. Not brushing your babies' gums can cause gingivitis. It is tricky with Jackson because he has big lips and we need yo pull the lips back. Jackson did have some build-up on one side, but the nurse said brushing his gums for three days straight on that side will get rid of it. We already use a spin brush on him.
Need to floss back four molars daily for sure. They have these teeth utill they are four years old. Any tips on how to do this easier let me know! Might be getting those devices that makes flossing easier.
They do not have x rays until they are five years old.

We went to Pediatric Dental Care in Gastonia (Dr. Conner). I was very happy with the experience. They let me come back there for his first visit and he got a balloon, sugar free sucker, and a token to get a prize.

Another thing we are going back and forth debating now is dental insurance. It cost us $180 for Jackson's visit, but dental insurance for us all is around $120 a month....now that does not add up if you ask me. Do you have dental insurance? If so do you think it is worth it?

Also, do you have any tips on cleaning your Preschooler's teeth?

Just thought I would share that with yall. This was one of Jackson's Preschool books of the month he did in speech and one that is definitely worth buying. Abigail is loving this book, and we are reading it every day before her nap.

Also, this week is the Letter "S" in Preschool and we are working with him writing the letter S and the theme is Dr. Seuss. I heart Preschool.

I really have been pleased with all they have taught him and it is VERY affordable (it also helps that his best bud is in his class)! Abigail will not go next year. I am not going to put her in one until she is in a 3k class.

Please also keep us in your prayers. Saturday night a TV feel on Jackson (somehow he only got a cut on his knee). Monday night a class bowl broke on me and I have a cut on my thumb, and then tonight a class bowl broke on Abigail (she is fine). This is a new type of demonic attack that we are experiencing. However, any suffering we have for His name sake, is so worth it. Living for eternity, is so worth it. Jesus is so worth it.

David Baptist Church will be voting March 13th on going to two Sunday Schools and two services. Every since the expansion committee has met we have gone through spiritual warfare for sure. David Baptist church has never gone to two worship services (and Sunday school hours) in the entire 70 years of its existence, so this is pretty major. Thank you for praying. and just continue to pray that our family and our church will be all about Jesus and reaching/discipling people for Him!

This week marks our one year anniversary at David Baptist. We are loving it here, and love the people so much!

Update on Our House

Praises:

I talked to a friend last week, and got professional pictures taken of the house for only $40. They are now online at all the Realtor websites! Don't they look great?
I have heard of multiple stories in the last week of once a person gets pictures up online, their house sells. I really believe that this is God talking through them to me!
We had open house last Sunday and some neighbors came by, and one girl is interested in buying it but her work is across town (30 minutes).
Anyone I talk to, I ask them to pray for our house to sell, and now it is on the Community Bible Study leadership prayer list. So lots of people are praying our house will sell.
We are having an open house again this Sunday and a sign about the open house has been in the yard all week. Additionally, now 15 pictures are up and running online so we are VERY hopeful.

Pray:

That someone will buy our house soon in Jesus' powerful name!
That I will have patience, and glorify God through this.
That the other house in the neighborhood for sale will not hinder our house selling.

Breakthrough with Training Jackson

Recently, I feel like I have had a breakthrough with Jackson, all thanks to Mrs. Duggar.

Have you ever watched 19 Kids and Counting? Your answer is probably "yes." BUT, have you ever seen Michelle Duggar sin? (She obviously does) Your answer might be surprisingly, "no." We are all sinners, but I tell you what, Michelle Duggar is unbelievable and she could only be how she is because of the power of Jesus in her life.

On a recent episode, she was having to deal with a fight that happened with the little ones. She made three of her preschoolers tell to her what they should have done (not take the ice cream, etc), and then she made them repeat ten times to her while looking her in the eye whatever they should have said in the situation. This all happened while they were sitting on chairs. With the youngest one, I think it was as simple as telling the child telling her "yes ma'am" ten times. Duggar would then praise the children for doing whatever it was they were asked to do. She says she concentrates on training them in all situations.

So, the last week or so Jackson had the flu for the first time since we took his paci away last year (yes, we had the flu shot). Needless to say he whined a lot and threw things when he was sick and mad with no paci to calm this time around. So, when he did that, I took him in the kitchen and said "you need to say 10 times 'I will not throw things.'" It really got to the heart of the issue and then I would instruct him with what he should have done---he should have told mommy in a calm, self-controlled voice what was wrong. I do believe in using the rod, but when my baby boy had the flu, and even now, I am really concentrating on training him on what to do in certain situations (as well as giving him time outs on his bed for four minutes when he is whining).

Also, at the end of the day, Duggar tries to praise her children in front of everyone about what they did well that day. I have been really trying to do that and so today when Charlie came home I told him that Abigail did a great job eating her Toy Story vitamin, and that Jackson did a great job when he drew a perfect H on his chalkboard during our "school" time today (we got the chalkboard from Handwriting without Tears). Jackson's "love language" is definitely words of affirmation. He gets that from his father ;-)

Just thought I would share this because I knew it would be helpful in training your Preschooler. Also the book of the month for Preschoolers for February is Over the Meadow, and March's book is The Little Engine That Could. Great books to check out at the library I am sure. I hope to get them soon.

Movie Monday:Singing in the Bed with the Flu

Jackson got diagnosed with the flu on Feb. 4th (yes we all had our flu shots), and then Abigail and Charlie got some sort of virus that was not the flu, so needless to say we all spent lots of time in the bed the last couple of weeks. Charlie started letting them watch Yo Gabba Gabba music videos online and they would all sing and dance...it was too cute!

Jackson's First Time Giving out Valentines

Jackson was so excited to exchange Valentines at his Preschool last Thursday. Since this was his first time doing so, mommy went a little overboard. Charlie was able to go to this Ollies Bookstore in Gastonia and get Toy Story Valentine's cards for .50 with a pencil (for 12 of them!). So I also got little wallet pictures of Jackson ordered from Kodak galleries and put on the back of the picture that "Jackson Wallace is thankful for you." Lastly, in the envelope I put a lolly pop (that we already had), and a piece of heart shaped chocolate. All and all, it did not cost a lot and I know it meant a lot to his friends and to Jackson.

I was overwhelmed last week with thankfulness to God for putting us here in Kings Mountain now. Whenever you move, you definitely are concerned more with your children, than yourself. I was concerned that Jackson would not have close friends for a while when we moved and prayed about it a lot. God answered my prayers greater than I could ever hope for. He has so many boys that are his close friends, and his best friend goes to church with him and Preschool. We are all really loving living here in Kings Mountain, and are so thankful for the close friends God has put in our lives here.

Prayer Request for Our House

This Sunday we are having an Open House for our house from 2-5pm. It would be great if you could pray right now and on Sunday, that this month will be the month that our house sells. Also, if you could ask anyone else who you know who prays to pray as well that the perfect person will come on Sunday and want to buy our house.

We have lowered the price a good deal, and we have a professional photographer coming to take pictures of the house tomorrow to put online. He was recommended by a friend, and is charging us a VERY minimal price to take these pictures. We are thankful, and we are hopeful that our house will sell very soon.

Wednesday's Weight Watchers: I Have Lost 13.6 Pounds Now

It has been slow going (I joined WeightWatchers in October of last year), but having a friend go with me every week has made all the difference in the world. I have lost five percent of my body weight and three pounds away from 10 percent of my body weight. I have never done Weight Watchers during November and December (Thanksgiving and Christmas), but I am so glad I did this year because I did not gain weight during those holidays.

It would be losing weight quicker if I was going to work out classes that I love, but I have not been doing that. A friend recently told me about Shapes by Jodi in Kings Mountain that I will hopefully check out soon. In Columbia, I had one of the best workout teachers ever Lisa and I loved taking Body Step and Body Combat with her.

The key for me with Weight Watchers is planning out what I will eat the day before I eat it. Additionally writing everything down is key and I got a new cute cover for my 3 month journal.

I do need to increase my veggie intake, but I am really enjoying eating all the fresh fruit I like for 0 points.

Yesterday I ate:

Fiber One Bar 4 points

Banana 0 points

Weight Watchers Smart One Meal 7 points
Weight Watchers Brownie will lite cool whip 4 points

Grapes 0 points
Fiber One Yogurt 1 point

Dry Cereal 4 points

Budgeting

Keeping finances in order during the holiday season is always a challenge. It is so important to have "X" amount of money saved for Christmas. Sometimes I literally hide that money so I forget that I have it.

We decided to adjust our budget for the new year.

Some things that work well for us:

When I am at Walmart I break out my massive scientific calculator that I've had since college, and once I hit "X" amount we are done. This is so helpful because I am never surprised when I check out about how much money we have spent.
We are also budgeting weekly amount for Ingels, and an amount for dining out. We try our best to plan out our entire week of eating.
Watch and listen to financial advice on TV and the radio. Dave Ramsey is great, and I have recently discovered a show entitled "Till Debt to Us Part." This show comes on Saturday night.
We got an idea from "Till Debt to Us Part" to get cash out for groceries as well as dining out for the month (as opposed to using our debit cards). This helps us stay within the food budget. Eating is a cost you can really cut down on! Using cash can really help keep your spending under control.
Also, I am still "old school" and write down every thing in my check register that we spend money on.
Lastly, I try to pinch every penny that we save actually into our savings account. Many financial experts say you need at least $500 in savings for emergencies, but it would be better to have $1,000.

It has been a struggle keeping two houses going (keep praying our house in Columbia sells!). Additionally, we owe many different services for Charlie having to have his gallbladder out last year. His tummy hurts.

BUT...

We are SO blessed with all the finances God has given us, and I am blessed to have a wonderful woman of faith from church who gives me her newspaper with coupons in it for free every Sunday. I also enjoy printing coupons off the website coupon.com.

Do you have any tips on budgeting or any good books to read to about budgeting?

PS-Last week, Walmart has had huge clearance section in the Christmas section, and got a fleece for Abigail for $3.

Abigail's 2 Year Old Stats

Weight: 27.8 pounds 50%
Height: Did not write it down but she is in the 50-75%

She went for her 2 year check up back in December, and the doctor said she looked great. She is above-average with her language and lots of other categories, and I do not take it for granted for one second! It is so nice having babies in the 50 percentile because they actually wear their age (2t). Jackson weighed 27 pounds at his 2 year check up, (here) and the strange thing is that they are always 10 pounds apart. Jackson weighs 38 pounds now...crazy!

She has the sweetest voice, and to me she gets prettier and prettier every day. Her favorite new phrase is "not again" (too cute). Today she wore panties for the first time and if it was summer time, I would have her potty trained! Every day, I am thankful for my precious Abigail. I love our one-on-one times where we snuggle in the bed. It is so nice that she will sit still for 30 minutes or so. Lastly, she is a great singer, but gets VERY shy when she is in front of people or I break out the video camera (unlike Jackson). One thing though I am praying for her is that she will learn how to not be so dramatic. Her cry is the same if she has hurt herself or if Jackson took a toy away from her (this is of course hard on mommy and daddy).

I am overwhelming thankful for my babies who are growing up so fast.

Snowed in All Week=Time to Get Organized!

I got sterilite containers at Walmart before we got snowed in which I am so thankful for!

What I did to clean out the junk drawer:

Went through it all and put everything in piles, and threw away a lot.
Organized everything into three main piles. Tools, writing stuff for the kids, and miscellaneous. I do still have one zip lock bag for a game we take to play at restaurants.
After I dumped everything out, I did clean the draws really well.

Now, that I have all their "Preschool" worksheets organized, we were able to have "school" time two times this week while snowed in. The school lets me know ahead of time what they are working on, and this week they would have been working on the letter "X".

Do you have any suggestions on how to help Jackson write his letters on his own, beside worksheets, and a chalkboard?

Do you have any organizational tips for organizing your house? The sterilite containers were key for me being able to organize this drawer (the big ones were $3).

I got this song on itunes and I got the version that Kathryn Scott sings and would highly recommend it.

It was emotional for me singing this song on Sunday. Molly always would say that my babies were "a beauty." So, when the line, "Now I can trade these ashes in for beauty," came up for us to sing, I was not able to without crying. It was just a year ago where Molly was doing so great and even able to travel to Charleston for a funeral where she was able to hug and kiss all over my babies.

Another hard thing is explaining death to a 4 year old. Many experts say that children cannot understand abstract concepts till around 7 years old. Mimi and Pop Pop's dog Jack passed away in December and it was really hard for him to wrap his little mind around it. Over Christmas, he asked Mimi if she missed her doggy, and told her that he was in the clouds. He definitely is tender- hearted! He asked this weekend, why did your grandmommy die? I said most people die when they get older and she lived a long wonderful life.

Do you know of any good books explaining death to Preschoolers? Susan recommended When Dinosaurs Die and actually is letting us borrow it right now which is a huge blessing.

Molly

Today my precious grandmother Molly passed away at 92 years old. She was one of the most positive people I have ever met. I cannot remember her saying anything negative ever (this probably had a lot to do with her living so long). She was my last living grandparent. She also was my dad's mother so keep my daddy in your prayers this week.

I will always remember:

Her playing cards with me for hours on end when I was little, even though she did not have to.
Our sweet trips to get her hair done. In seminary, I had the privilege of taking her to get her hair done. She would tell me wonderful stories about her being one of the first women to graduate from the college of Charleston. She had some pretty amazing stories to tell.
Her being there to watch me marry my prince.
Her meeting my babies. She loved babies as much as I do (she had four of her own). She was so happy to kiss and love all over them.

Lately, God has been teaching me so much about faith. "Faith is being SURE of what we hope for and CERTAIN of what we cannot see." Part of being a woman of faith is being a positive person. Positive that whatever happens in life, God has a plan. Molly taught me more about being a woman of faith, through her actions, than any other person has. I pray I can live a life where I do not say much of anything negative and have faith like my sweet Molly.

A New Year, A New Resolution: Getting Organized!

This "junk drawer" sums it all up....

Before we moved I spent lots of time organizing and throwing out things. So, when we moved to this wonderful house we are renting, I was burned out of organizing and had a lot to unpack. This house is wonderful because we have so much storage space. We have a carport room, a big room in our backyard, and a huge attic. But, because of all this space, I do not have to be organized to make it all fit it. After it took us 2 weeks to find our Christmas ornaments, I am now very motivated to get back organized and would love to have your advice.

Here is the plan:

Everyday, only after I have had my Bible time, I set a timer and organize something for 15 minutes.

What I have done already:

Got my desks draws cleaned out and organized
Got all my clothes that I want to keep from my babies in the attic
Got all Christmas stuff in the attic

I am pretty much starting with the back of the house and going through the house. The big bears are going to be this junk drawer, and my coat closet, and our outside room. I have gotten are sterilite bins to organize this massive junk drawer (one container for batteries, one for tools, one for crayons).
