Update on Andrew-December 20th

He is out of intensive care!

Andrew passed the swallow test today! So, he had a few very wonderful sips of a strawberry-banana smoothie. He had a huge smile on his face! So, from here he'll move to liquids, smooth solids and then normal food. This was very encouraging! Also, the surgery this morning went very well. I hope you all are doing well. Thank you for your prayers!!!

The CT scan from last night revealed an abscess in Andrew's abdomen. So, the source of the fever was discovered. They performed a small procedure on him this afternoon to drain this abscess. He is doing so well after all of this. He will hopefully have his swallow test tomorrow; after this they will be able to determine if he can start to eat and then drink. I so hope that he will be able to soon.
Will got in today. It was so good for him to see Andrew doing so well. And, Andrew was very happy to see him. The rest of us are a bit under the weather again. Please pray that we will all recover quickly so we can be available for Andrew. Thank you all so much for your prayers and support. The outpouring of love to our family during this time has been so unbelievable!

Hi all. I'm here in the waiting room down the hall from Andrew's room. He is currently in a CT scan. I've been with him for the last few hours and he is doing pretty good. He has had a fever for the past few days, which understandably causes him to be less comfortable. To be honest, I have no idea how he does it. He has such a tremendous amount to overcome. Overall, he remains positive, though the internal struggle is so huge. Please lift him up to God. I cannot imagine his current suffering and the suffering to come. This is going to be a very long road. Please pray that God will give him the strength that he will need for each day. Also, pray that God will reveal to Andrew His plan and purpose for his life. Thank you!

Andrew is enjoying his new room on the fifth floor. He now has a window which brings in the cheerful sunlight. He is doing well, but is in a stage where he still needs a lot of care and prayers. Please pray for strength and energy for my family as Andrew's needs are very great. Thank you all! ~Katherine
