Tuesday's Tip:*HOT* $4.49 Huggies @ Target!

uggies Slip-On Diapers Jumbo Pack $9.49
Use $3.00/1 Huggies Little Movers Slip-on Diapers from SS 10/23 (exp 11/19)
And Use $2.00/1 – Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diapers, Target Coupon – (squirmybabychallenge.com)
Final Price: $4.49

I am so proud of Abigail. The second week of her starting school, I put underwear on her and she did great. I still use diapers for her to sleep in but all during the day she has underwear on. It has been a little exhausting stopping places and taking her potty, but so worth not seeing her have sagging diapers (they were even going through her clothes and getting her clothes wet). This summer when I put underwear on her she would have accidents all the time because she does not mind being dirty, and just wasn't ready for it, so I was really surprised when we tried again and it worked. Praise God!

Tuesday's Tip: Walmart GAS-10 cent off!

  • Right now, through September, when you get a Walmart Gift Card you get 10 cent off per gallon of gas you pump using Walmart Gas. I know, the only one in our area is Gastonia Walmart, BUT if you ever go to Spartanburg, maybe even Gaffney, you really save. In July, I got my gas for like 3.29...HUGE saving.
  • Also, I know Kangaroo Express is doing something else new where you can put $50 in cash on a gift card, and get $2.80 off you gas purchase. I have not tried it, but let me know if you have! I might try it soon on the way to Spartanburg since gas is cheapest in SC.

Thursday's Tip: Charlotte Observer Paper for $1

  • The Charlotte Observer special where you can get only the Sunday paper for $1/week. Just signed up and wanted you to know that you can actually get 6 months or a full year rather than just 13 weeks. Also, if you're a really serious couponer, you can order multiple copies. (ex: $2/week for 2 Sunday papers)
  • Also, I know Restaurant.com has not had much participation in Shelby, but Smoke on the Square is actually participating now. This website cycles through with their specials (50% off up through 80% off) fairly quickly, but I thought I'd share that today is the last day of the 80% off until it cycles through again.
I shared some money saving ideas and how to coupon at our Shelby Moms Club meeting this week (we have a meeting once a month), and one of our members did even more research for us and above is part of her email. This is a fantastic deal on the paper!

I am taking over the duties of president of the Shelby Moms Club and if you are a stay at home mom in the Shelby Kings / Mountain area, we would love for you to join us. I am excited about how much we have encouraged each other this summer, and excited about reaching more stay at home moms (email me if you want more info:emilywallace80@hotmail.com).

Tuesday's Tip: At CVS this Week: Free Bag Tag

"There are two great coupons printing from the in-store coupon center kiosk at CVS right now. You can get a coupon for a free bag tag and $1 off Crystal Light."

"Attach the green bag tag to any reuseable shopping bag. Then everytime you shop in CVS scan the bag tag at checkout and every 4th scan gives you to $1 ECB. Your card will only track one scan per day.

If you get the $1 off Crystal Light coupon:
This is awesome because there are single packs for 50¢ each! This allows you to make 50¢, or get 2 packs for free.

(thanks, whosaidnothinginlifeisfree!)"

from Southern Savers

So, today I went to CVS and got a coupon for a free bag tag. You do not have to use a reusable shopping bag, you just have to scan your bag tag (but you can only scan it one time a day).

Then, I had 1 coupon for a Playtex cup from the newspaper, and another CVS store baby coupon that they mailed me me, so I got Abigail a Princess Playtex cup for $1. You can also "sign up for Playtex Baby e-mail notifications you will receive an e-mail for $2 off any Playtex Infant Product. It is a Bricks link, so you can print it twice and it won’t expire for 90 days.

The e-mail may take up to 24 hours to receive.

This should make small Playtex items free!"

I am back into couponing, hoping this summer to cut my grocery bill in half. Do you have any tips?

Tuesday's Tip: Bulletin Monday at Chick Fil A in the Shelby Mall

I saw the last time I was at the Shelby mall, that Monday is bulletin Mondays. If you bring in your bulletin from Sunday you get a free Chick Fil A sandwich or 8 count nugget!

So, last night after tee ball practice we went to the Shelby mall with our bulletin, and saw the Easter Bunny. Abigail is terrified of anything dressed up in a big fluffy costume (Chick Fil A cow, Cocky, etc), so I was SO proud of her for sitting on the ledge with her sweet daddy right behind her. The picture people cropped Charlie out of our printed pictures, and they were so nice and affordable.

Tuesday's Tip: Restaurant.com: 80 % Off: Purchase Before March 31st

and get a FREE $10 Gift Card!

"Get 80% off at Restaurant.com using the code: TASTY at checkout. This is good through Thursday, March 31st.

Better yet, with any purchase, you will get another FREE $10 eGift Card to Restaurant.com.

These are really coupons off a larger purchase (so you do still have to spend money in the restaurant), but they are still a great way to save!

You’ll get:

- $25 dining or gift certificates for $2

- $10 dining or gift certificates for 60¢

Think of them as a $10 off a $15 lunch or $25 dollars off a $40 dinner. For us this makes for cheap lunches out with Daddy, or inexpensive dinner dates. Make sure to read what the requirements are for that restaurant before purchasing."

Thanks Southern Savers!

There is more to choose for in Spartanburg so I am hoping to get this deal at a restaurant in Spartanburg and then I will have a free babysitter...my parents!

Also, Southern Savers writes:

"There is another great new Huggies printable coupon for $3 off any package of Huggies Diapers! This is a different printable from the one a few days ago.

Don’t wait to print your coupon – it will go fast!"

I somehow printed this coupon twice.

And finally:

Redplum loaded a whole new batch of coupons this morning! If there are any coupons you may want you need to print them now, sadly Redplum coupons never last long.

One to note is the Success Rice coupon. With the Disney Tangled movie being released on DVD this week, this coupon pairs in nicely with a mail in rebate for Tangled and Success Rice.

The Coupons

$1 off Scott’s Liquid Gold Wood Cleaner & Preservative printable
$2 off Culturelle Digestive Health of Health & Wellness printable
$1 off Tums Product 24 ct. + printable
.75/2 Ball Park Products printable
$3 off FiberChoice Product 90 ct. printable

Budgeting

Keeping finances in order during the holiday season is always a challenge. It is so important to have "X" amount of money saved for Christmas. Sometimes I literally hide that money so I forget that I have it.

We decided to adjust our budget for the new year.

Some things that work well for us:
  1. When I am at Walmart I break out my massive scientific calculator that I've had since college, and once I hit "X" amount we are done. This is so helpful because I am never surprised when I check out about how much money we have spent.
  2. We are also budgeting weekly amount for Ingels, and an amount for dining out. We try our best to plan out our entire week of eating.
  3. Watch and listen to financial advice on TV and the radio. Dave Ramsey is great, and I have recently discovered a show entitled "Till Debt to Us Part." This show comes on Saturday night.
  4. We got an idea from "Till Debt to Us Part" to get cash out for groceries as well as dining out for the month (as opposed to using our debit cards). This helps us stay within the food budget. Eating is a cost you can really cut down on! Using cash can really help keep your spending under control.
  5. Also, I am still "old school" and write down every thing in my check register that we spend money on.
  6. Lastly, I try to pinch every penny that we save actually into our savings account. Many financial experts say you need at least $500 in savings for emergencies, but it would be better to have $1,000.
It has been a struggle keeping two houses going (keep praying our house in Columbia sells!). Additionally, we owe many different services for Charlie having to have his gallbladder out last year. His tummy hurts.

BUT...

We are SO blessed with all the finances God has given us, and I am blessed to have a wonderful woman of faith from church who gives me her newspaper with coupons in it for free every Sunday. I also enjoy printing coupons off the website coupon.com.

Do you have any tips on budgeting or any good books to read to about budgeting?

PS-Last week, Walmart has had huge clearance section in the Christmas section, and got a fleece for Abigail for $3.

WeightWatchers Points Plus: They Changed Things for the First Time in 13 years!

I was pretty shocked that WeightWatchers changed when I went to the meeting last Monday night. There was so many people there that I was there 30 more minutes than I usually am.

This week is probably the busiest week I have had in a long time. This week so far we have put up the Christmas tree, got Christmas cards done, got presents for everyone on Cyber Monday (I got seven presents at Kodak Galleries for $50 and saved $38!), my mom had nasal surgery Monday, I got Abigail present for her birthday that is this Sunday, and finally got some stuff ready to go to the SEC Championship Game that is this Saturday (it will be the first time I have left both babies). Wow...

So I am only going to give you a few bullet points on what has changed with WeightWatchers (more to come for sure).
  • The main thing is that now you HAVE to get a points calculator because they have totally changed how calculate points values for every food that you eat (they are only $5.95 each right now through the end of Jan.) They do not even take into consideration calories, but you figure out how many points a food is by entering in how many Proteins it has, Carbs, Total Fat, and Fiber.
  • I have found that most of the foods I like to eat have gone up in points value. Fiber One yogurt that was 0 points, is now 1 point because of the carbs, and my 2 point WeightWatchers brownie is now 3 points instead of 2. Basically all WeightWatchers food have gone up 1 point.
  • But, now even the smallest person has to eat 29 points a day (in the old program I was trying to only eat 23 a day), and now everyone gets 49 extra points for the week! If you are more than 20 pounds overweight you can calculate how many points you get using your points calculator. They say they have been doing scientific research for the last 13 years to make WeightWatchers as scientifically proven as possible.
  • Last, but not least, they say all fresh fruits (not canned) are 0 points! Fresh veggies are 0 points as well. A banana that once was 2 points is now 0 points. WeightWatchers has all new books for this new Points Plus system, and good deals on them as well.
Let me know if you have any questions. Jan 1st would be a great time to join WeightWatchers ($13 a week here). I have now lost 9.4 pounds in 7 weeks! Yay!

Thursday's Tip: Overcoming Feeling Defeated

"He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything . . . . No name and no power [are] exempt from his rule (Eph. 1:21-22)."

Last Sunday, Charlie challenged us to pray 10 minutes a day for one week (it has taken some getting used to with my husband being my pastor too...he is an unbelievable teacher and pastor).

As I was praying, I just cried out to God in my prayer that I just have felt so defeated in two areas of my life: finances and overeating.

So, after praying, God and His Spirit showed me some ways to overcome feeling defeated. Have a plan!

With finances there have been many expenses that have occurred that are out of our control - keeping up with two houses, Charlie having his gallbladder out and then those bills pouring in. But one thing I can control is how much we spend on groceries and out to eat and I really do not feel like we have been good stewards in this area at all. It takes some time to figure out how much it is going to cost to live in a new town as well as adjusting to a different type of pay schedule.

So here has been our challenge this last week and only by God's power and His provision have we been able to only spend $200 on groceries and out to eat.
  1. We got $200 in cash out for last week. Spent $50 at Ingels, $50 at Walmart, $20 at CVS, $15 church meal and had the rest left over. We went out to eat one time at Ham's where the kids ate for .99 (Monday night).
  2. No matter what, we eat at the table and try our best to cook on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday nights. Charlie enjoys cooking and I do not mind cleaning it up! I am planning out our meals one week in advance.
  3. During my Walmart trip I could not believe how I got 30 items for $50. I totally felt not defeated, I was a conqueror. Going out to eat is not a desire but for one time a week when I could get so many groceries for $20.
  4. I love having cash in my wallet and I have hardly had to use my debit card.
With overeating:
  • I write down everything I eat in my 3 month Weight Watchers journal.
  • I weigh in every Monday with Charlie for accountability. (trying to lose 2 pounds a week).
  • My goal is to have this 15-20 pounds (I am that much more heavier since my wedding day Jan 2004) off by next summer. I am going to join back Weight Watchers when I get 10 pounds away from my target weight and hopefully become a lifetime member of Weight Watchers.
  • There is nothing I can get at Zaxby's under 20 WW points, so I just do not get anything!
  • Just always trying to lose weight is frustrating, but giving myself a big goal and specific time limits has really helped my attitude!
What about you? Do you feel defeated with your fiances or overeating? What has helped you?

Thursday's Tip: Educational DVD's

I love educational dvd's and in the car that is what the kids watch along with Veggie Tales and Cedarmont Kids dvd's.

Top 4 Favorites:
  • Baby Signing Time Volumes 1-4. Volume 1 is a great baby gift to get someone. Also, the other Signing Time videos are good as well. I never buy new dvd's for my kids, I buy them used on amazon or half.com
  • Spectrum Connections: Bounce: Lets Talk...speech therapy dvd's
  • Baby Babble...speech therapist dvd's. Both volume 1 and 2 are great
  • Lets Talk with Puppy Dog
What are your favorite educational dvd's?

Also, CVS has great deal on diapers this week:

Tuesday's Tip: Weight Watchers and Budgeting

Weight Watchers Tips:

  • I got off going to Weight Watchers meetings after we moved but I am back to using their journal and my first tip is to plan out what you will eat every day right when you wake up!
  • Normal day of eating for me is: Fiber One Bar first thing: 2 points, Smart One Chicken Alfredo frozen meal: 6 points, Fiber One yogurt:0 points, Weight Watchers brownie (heated up in the microwave): 2 points with light cool whip on top, Junior Burrito at Moe's: 8 points, chips and some dip: 4 points, Red Velvet cake bar: (found only at Weight Watchers meetings) 1 point. Total used 23 points even though my goal is 22. Writing down what you eat is huge, and I love the 3 month journal that is found only at the meetings.
  • Every other day I eat Special K Chocolate Protein Shake for breakfast for 3 points. I try not to have the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day. I also try to wait to I am hungry to eat!
  • Recently, I have enjoyed the new Special K vanilla almond cereal. What are some low calorie/ low point food that you enjoy?
Budgeting:
  • I am making a new personal legalism of only spending $100 a Walmart per week on groceries, medicine, diapers etc. I will not go back to Walmart for 7 days, not matter what!
  • Trying to not spend more than $200 a week on groceries and out to eat food
  • Check on how you are doing at least once I week...I do it on Mondays usually.
  • We try to spend no more that $3 on breakfast for all of us, $5 for lunch and $10 for dinners for all of us.
  • What are your money saving tips for this week or budgeting suggestions?

All You Magazine 83¢ an issue

Check out the article here form Southern Savers.

All You Magazine is found at Walmart and has tons of coupons in it. There is some debate on if the ones at Walmart have more coupons in it than when you get a magazine subscription, but that does not really matter to me.

I got the two year subscription by:

The Deal:

  1. Head over here , click “View All Selections”
  2. Search for All You.
  3. Order 2 years (24 issues) for $20
$20 for two years no cost on shipping or taxes and every order placed $8 goes to charity.

I also went to a coupon workshop at our church put on by Grits Couponing 101. I really got excited about Harris Teeter which we did not have in SC, and they tripling coupons this week until May 4th. Additionally, I learned that if you sign up with you rewards card online with Harris Teeter, you become e-vic member and get deals on certain products every week.

The key with Harris Teeter is they will triple any coupon .99 cents or less. So be sure not to think that a coupon that is worth $1.00 is going to be tripled.

Click here to see Harris Teeter deals this week.

PS- Charlie has saved us money this week. Our belt on our dryer snapped and he went to you tube and saw a video on how to fix it on our exact dyer! He went to the hardware store and bought the belt and everything. He is the man.
