Proverb for the Day

Right now I reading through Proverbs in my reading through the Bible in a year, and today I read one of my favorite proverbs.

"When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise."

Proverbs 10:19

So if you are in an argument or counseling someone, sometimes the best thing to do it is to hold your tongue. With many words, sin is not absent. Boy, do I need to read this proverb everyday!

A wise older friend of mine always told me to just bite my tongue. That was her council to me all the time. I could so easily sin in my words when I am frustrated. I love that Proverb so much. As women, it is so easy for us to sin in our words with our husbands when we become frustrated and I tell newlywed wives all the time to just bite their tongue. Have a great day!

My default is to talk UNTIL it makes sense! ha!

I'm glad to hear that you're reading Proverbs. I read a book called "Little Red Book of Wisdom" recently and have been encouraged to read through Proverbs every month. I blog about my favorite of the day at www.littleredblogofwisdom.wordpress.com
